Zebra stripes, Hot Pink, and SpongeBob...:)

This weekend I did two cakes for the same day -
A zebra-striped, hot pink bordered baby shower cake: the bottom tier is chocolate filled with decadent ganache, (MMMM! The kitchen smelled a-MAZ-ingly chocolatey all day! ;) ) and the top tier was yellow filled with buttercream- which I colored hot pink. :)
On the outside, those stripes are made of modeling chocolate, a new modeling compound experiment - it works well in place of fondant, and tastes like the inside of an m&m.
The pink curly-cues on top are made with fondant.

And SpongeBob...LOL! I had so much fun making this one!!!! I based the design loosely on the SpongeBob show logo - but with a 3D twist - SpongeBob is his own piece of cake sitting on top - with a cute fondant hand! ;) SpongeBob is so funny to draw! I loved doing the lettering- that is one of my favorite parts of decorating, in addition to drawing. I am a calligrapher of sorts, and love to study and copy fun fonts in my free time.
